3-28-11 - "Losing Lisa" ~ Ben Folds

Ben Folds isn't for everyone.  He frequently swears, which some people don't tolerate (not going to argue it here, but it's not something about which I tend to worry).  Not everyone is into his style, but the man is a gifted pianist, and a very witty songwriter.  Here's one from his debut solo album, Rockin' the Suburbs.

Losing Lisa is arguably the strongest track on the record, and certainly one of the most upbeat and adventurous musically, with some great chord progressions and a jangly feel that should get your head bobbing and toes tapping.  However, the subject matter is not so happy - it's about a deep relationship being torn apart.  The contrast makes for quite the intriguing listen...

"Losing Lisa" ~ Ben Folds

"Black tears are falling down her face and I am wrong;
black tears are falling, and she won't say what I've done;
she's sitting here beside me, then she is gone..."
